CHILD LABOR -- 2

Child Labor began to be considered a human rights issue and became an issue of public dispute, when the foundation of universal schooling was laid. Historically the transformation came with the industrial revolution and the emergence of concepts like children’s rights and worker’s rights. Child labor is widely prevalent in some form or the other, all over world.

According to the statistics given by International Labor Organization there are about 218 million children between the age of 5 and 17 working all over the world. The figure excludes domestic labor. The most condemned form of child labor is the use of children for military purpose and child prostitution. Child agricultural works, child singers and child actors outside of school hours during season time are more acceptable by champions of human rights and law. The phenomenon of child labor is a complex development issue worthy of investigation. The fact that vulnerable children are being exploited and forced into work, which is not fit for their age, is a human rights concern now. India and other developed and developing countries are really plagued by the problem of child employment in organized and unorganized sectors.

The child goes to work instead of school. The future of the child is dawned because of this. An education is the only thing which can make the younger generation to compete in this world. Government is concentrating on Child Education and their welfare. But still there are many kids are working in small industries, hotels and doing small business.

Most of the children want to go to school not to job. Many of them are interested in Becoming computer engineers. They want to learn many things and travel around the world. Many kids wanted to earn more money so that they afford a good life for their Kids.

I used to think why there is so much difference in this world. Only few children get the education when the rest has only the dream. Is it correct? Why god has not helped them. Why he has not given the wealth for the child’s family for the education purpose. Many of them say it is their Fate. God has given The Power and wealth to other humans who have to take care of the kids.

Yes, we can change it. We can sponsor for them for their education. I have seen many children welfare association does it. We, the Humans must come forward to put an end to the child labor and show those kid a way for a better education.

One of dream is to help kids for their education. I won’t let this one just as a dream. I will fulfill it. Come on, let us all come forward to help those kids who really need of it.

Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them to become what they are capable of being.

CHILD LABOR

Child Labor is very common, and can be factory work, mining, prostitution or quarrying, agriculture, helping in the parents' business, having one's own small business (for example selling food), or doing odd jobs. Some children work as guides for tourists, sometimes combined with bringing in business for shops and restaurants (where they may also work as waiters). Other children are forced to do tedious and repetitive jobs such as: assembling boxes, polishing shoes, stocking a store's products, or cleaning. However, rather than in factories and sweatshops, most child labor occurs in the informal sector, "selling many things on the streets, at work in agriculture or hidden away in houses — far from the reach of official labor inspectors and from media scrutiny." And all the work that they did was done in all types of weather; and was also done for minimal pay.

Some common causes of child labor are poverty, parental illiteracy, social apathy, ignorance, lack of education and exposure, exploitation of cheap and unorganized labor. The family practice to inculcate traditional skills in children also pulls little ones inexorably in the trap of child labor, as they never get the opportunity to learn anything else.

Poverty and over population have been identified as the two main causes of the child labor. Parents are forced to send little children into hazardous jobs for reasons of survival, even when they know it is wrong. Monetary constraints and the need for food shelter and clothing drive their children in the trap of premature labor. Over population in some regions creates paucity of resources. When there are limited means and more mouths to feed children are driven to commercial activities and not provided for their development needs. This is the case in most Asian and African countries.

Adult unemployment and urbanization also causes child labor. Adults often find it difficult to find jobs because factory owners find it more beneficial to employ children at cheap rates. This exploitation is particularly visible in garment factories of urban areas. Adult exploitation of children is also seen in many places. Elders relax at home and live on the labor of poor helpless children. The industrial revolution has also had a negative effect by giving rise to circumstances which encourages child labor. Sometimes multinationals prefer to employ child workers in the developing countries. This is so because they can be recruited for less pay, more work can be extracted from them and there is no union problem with them. This attitude also makes it difficult for adults to find jobs in factories, forcing them to drive their little ones to work to keep the fire burning their homes. The incidence of child labor would diminish considerably even in the face of poverty, if there are no parties willing to exploits them. Strict implementation of child labor laws and practical and healthy alternatives to replace this evil can go a long way to solve the problem of child labor. Children who are born out of wedlock, orphaned or abandoned are especially vulnerable to exploitation. They are forced to work for survival when there are no adults and relatives to support them. Livelihood considerations can also drive a child into the dirtiest forms of child labor like child prostitution and organized begging.

The future of a community is in the well being of its children. The above fact is beautifully expressed by Wordsworth in his famous lines “child is father of the man”. So it becomes imperative for the health of a nation to protect its children from premature labor which is hazardous to their mental, physical, educational and spiritual development needs. It is urgently required to save children from the murderous clutches of social injustice and educational deprivation, and ensure that they are given opportunities for healthy, normal and happy growth.

Hundreds and thousands of children are toiling as bonded labor in India’s silk industry and the government is not able to do anything to protect their rights. Those children who are working in India’s silk industry are virtually slaves. Children who work in silk factories are kept behind covers by being pushed into individual homes. Tamil Nadu in South India is the home of the largest number of bonded children. However more attention has been paid to rehabilitate children working on match and fireworks manufacture, compared to silk factories.

Indian sweet shops function quietly and illegally as household industries making little children toil for long hours on very low wages before huge cauldrons of burning fat. Many children working in Indian sweet shops remain unpaid or poorly paid, are scolded, ill treated and underfed. Studies of children toiling in Indian sweet shops show that they mainly hail from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Nepal. These children sometimes also double up as domestic help for the owners of the sweet shops and their families.

Child labor – 2 will be continued…..

What’s going on --- 2

What’s going on --- 2

In my lost topic I said that I am trying to figure out my happiness which I really like. I never find myself very much comfortable in rich places. Most of my happiness is childish which I always love to do. Walking in the beach shore and playing with the waves is a wonderful thing. Rain a beautiful gift from the nature. I like to walk in the rain. After the rainy season places near my house will be flooded. I like to walk in the flood. My parents will shout at me for behaving like a kid. But these things give me more happiness.

Friendship, one of the best relation that one crosses in his life time.
We can have many friends but few will be in our heart forever. We may stay apart from them but our thoughts will be always connected with them.Chatting with them gives me more happiness. Cracking jokes and discussing about the olden days that we enjoyed in college days makes us to stay connected.

I liked my college life. Because many of my classmates like me. Bunking the classes, going to movies, Group study, Arguments really made my life wonderful. I am missing those things after my college days ended.Everyone are Busy now. It’s really hard to keep in touch with everyone.Online chats and e-mails are the boon for us.

I know I have entered into a mechanical world where lots of tension is around me. There are many ways to overcome it. One of the best ways is silence. I am silently watching and learning to face the world. I want my happiness back. I hope all my friends too. What ever is going to happen I am going to face it.

I have learnt “Never Give Up”……. Hoping for the Bright Future ahead on my way…..
